Whip-Pops & Icarian Workshops with Duo Maiten

Join us for a day of exciting acroyoga skills in whip-pops and Icarians with Argentinian masters Maria and Martin of Duo Maiten! These workshops are aimed at intermediate to advanced skills, but the level can be adapted to suit each participant or group’s level, with simpler or more complex variations provided as required. Safety is essential, so we will delve into the details of confident and solid spotting, as well as managing these tricks with specific calibrations. If you like excitement and adrenaline, these workshops are for you!

Latin Whip-Pops (10:30 – 13:00)

We will review the Tarzan and back whip techniques and progress to whip-pops and Tarzan 360/540. We will also explore Whipcarian and its variations (e.g. shin-to-foot to Tarzan, birdcage to Tarzan, secretary).

Icarians (14:30 – 17:00)

We will work on shooting stars (handspring full reverse) and courbette variations (e.g. to foot-to-foot).

Prerequisites

To get the best from this experience, we expect you to have some experience with Icarians and whips and to feel comfortable doing:

• Solid Tarzan
• Some experience with Tarzan to throne (with spotter)
• Straight throws in front plank
• Straight throws in throne
• Icarian pop from throne to front plank
• Solid star and reverse star
• Straight throws from front plank to reverse throne (with spotter)

About the instructors

Maria and Martin (Duo Maiten), certified teachers from Argentina, have been dedicated to teaching this beautiful discipline for over two and a half years. Currently, they are on tour in Europe, teaching at some festivals and beautiful communities like ours! With training at the Icarian School in Mendoza, Argentina, we are thrilled to bring them to Berlin for the first time to share their knowledge with us. They taught regular classes and elevated the level of their local community, before expanding to Brazil. They always seek to challenge themselves by generating combined movement series, linking tricks in tempo and between tempo. Their practice focuses mainly on whip-pops and Icarians.

Payments are non-refundable. If for any reason you cannot make it, you can sell your ticket to someone else, as long as you inform us about the change.
